Privacy Policy
Effective: May 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Tendly (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Tendly mobile app (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
If you have any questions, contact us at privacy@tendly.garden.
1. Who We Are
Tendly is a garden management mobile application that helps you identify plants, track care, diagnose plant health issues, and shop for supplies. The Service is owned and operated by Tendly. Our legal address can be requested at the email above.
2. What We Collect
We collect only what’s needed to make the Service work.
Data you provide
- Photos of plants. When you use plant identification or health diagnosis, the photo you select or capture is uploaded to our identification provider (see Section 4) and processed by our servers. Plant photos may also be stored locally on your device as part of your garden log.
- Plant log data. Names, notes, care history, zones, and tasks you create for plants in your garden.
- Account information. If you sign in (e.g. with Apple Sign In), we receive your name and email address as you share them. You may also continue without signing in.
- Subscription information. Apple manages your subscription. We receive only an entitlement signal (whether you have an active Tendly Plus subscription) — we do not see your payment method or full transaction details.
Data collected automatically
- Device information. iOS version, device model, language, and time zone.
- Precise location. If you grant location permission, we use your device location (typically accurate to around 100 meters) to fetch local weather, gardening zone, and microclimate advice for your plants. Location is used at the time of the request only — we do not retain a history of your locations.
- App usage. Crashes, errors, and basic interaction events (e.g. “tapped Identify”) to improve the app. This data is not linked to your identity unless you are signed in.
What we don’t collect
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not access your photo library beyond the specific photos you choose to share with Tendly.
- We do not access your contacts, microphone, or other system data.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use the data we collect to:
- Identify plants and diagnose plant health issues you submit.
- Maintain your garden log and recommend care tasks tuned to your plants and local conditions.
- Provide weather and zone-based gardening guidance.
- Recommend gardening supplies (we may earn affiliate commissions when you purchase via retailer links — your purchase is processed entirely by the retailer, not by us).
- Maintain your subscription status and unlock features accordingly.
- Investigate bugs, prevent abuse, and improve the Service.
- Communicate with you about your account, service updates, or important changes.
We do not use your data for advertising profiles or to train AI models for unrelated products.
4. Third-Party Services
We share specific data with the following services, only as needed for them to perform their role:
| Provider | What is sent | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Kindwise / Plant.id (Czech Republic) | Plant photos you submit, approximate locale | Plant species identification and health diagnosis |
| Apple (USA) | Standard StoreKit identifiers, optional Sign in with Apple data | Subscription management, authentication |
| Supabase Inc. (USA / EU regions) | Account record (email), garden log if you sign in and sync | Account storage and cross-device sync |
| Apple WeatherKit (USA) | Precise location (~100m) | Weather data for your garden |
Each provider has its own privacy policy. We use them under data-processing terms that require them to protect your information and use it only on our instructions.
5. Storage and Retention
- On-device data. Garden log and photos are stored on your iPhone unless you choose to back them up via iCloud or sign in for sync. Uninstalling the app removes local data.
- Account data. If you create an account, we retain your data while your account is active. You can request deletion at any time via the email below — we will delete your data within 30 days unless we are legally required to retain it.
- Plant.id submissions. Photos sent for identification are processed by Plant.id according to their retention policy. We do not retain copies on our servers beyond what is needed to return a result.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Delete your data.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time (where processing relies on consent).
To exercise any right, email privacy@tendly.garden. We respond within 30 days. If you are in the EU/UK, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
How to Delete Your Tendly Account and Data
To delete your Tendly account and the associated data:
- Email privacy@tendly.garden from the email address linked to your account.
- We confirm receipt within 7 days and complete deletion within 30 days.
- Deletion removes: your account record, plants and care log, uploaded photos, identification history, and any preferences stored on our servers.
- Encrypted backups are purged on their next rotation cycle (within 90 days).
If you signed up through Apple, Google, or Facebook, you can also revoke Tendly’s access in your provider’s account settings. Doing so prevents future sign-in but does not by itself delete data we already hold — for that, email us using the address above.
California residents (CCPA)
We do not sell or share personal information in the sense defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act. California residents have the rights listed above and the right to non-discrimination for exercising them.
7. Children
Tendly is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact privacy@tendly.garden and we will remove it promptly.
8. Security
We protect your data using industry-standard measures including HTTPS for transport, encryption at rest where applicable, and access controls on our infrastructure. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Transfers
Tendly is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your data may be transferred to, processed, and stored in the United States or in any country where our service providers operate. We use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) when transferring data from the EU/UK.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in-app or by email before the changes take effect. The “Effective” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
